The Yamaha Champions Riding School, based at Miller Motorsports Park, has announced its 2010-2011 winter schedule of schools to be held at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.
The dates will be as follows:

November 22-23
December 9-10
January 20-21
February 7-9
February 17-18
March 10-11
March 21-22
April 7-8

This represents an expansion from six schools over the winter of 2009-2010.

These eight schools will include level-one schools and race-specific schools to help riders of all skill levels accomplish their riding goals and improve their skills no matter what type of rider they are currently.

“We continue to get great feedback from students who have attended the Yamaha Champions Riding School,” said lead instructor Nick Ienatsch. “Our winter program at Las Vegas Motor Speedway was so well received last year that we have added two additional dates for this year to accommodate the demand, and that is very gratifying.”

As has been customary since the school’s inception, Yamaha will continue to provide championship-winning “guest instructors” for many of the school dates. Previous guest instructors have included 2009 Superbike World Champion and 2010 MotoGP Rookie of the Year Ben Spies; five-time Daytona 200 and 1993 Superbike World Champion Scott Russell; 2008 Superbike World Champion James Toseland; 2010 AMA American Superbike Champion, 2003 AMA Superstock Champion and 2006-2007 AMA Formula Xtreme Champion Josh Hayes; 1998 AMA Superbike Champion, 2001 World Superbike multi-race winner, 2004 AMA Supermoto Champion and X-Games Supermoto Gold Medalist and 2008 AMA Supersport Champion Ben Bostrom; 2010 AMA Daytona 200 winner Josh Herrin; and two-time AMA Supermoto Lites Champion Brandon Currie.

The Yamaha Champions Riding School is also offering a special group program providing private instruction tailored to individual group needs. Groups ranging from casual Sunday riders groups to local Star Riders or Star Touring groups to club, regional or national racing series now have the opportunity to get together 15-20 riders for a school designed specifically to meet their needs, riding styles and lives.

These exclusive schools will be arranged individually by the school staff in order to provide the experience your group is looking for. Either way, you can learn to “Ride Like a Champion.”

Cypress California, October 5, 2010…Yamaha Motor Corporation U.S.A. and Graves Motorsports are pleased to announce that Josh Herrin has signed an agreement which will keep him with the team for the 2011 and 2012 racing seasons.

The 20 year old Herrin has just completed his fourth season on the Graves Motorsports prepared R6 and finished a very close third in the final AMA Daytona Sportbike Class Series Championship. Starting off the season with his win in The Daytona 200, arguably the most prestigious on the Tour, Josh went on to score five victories in the 2010 season. With his wins at Fontana, Road America, Mid Ohio and Virginia International Raceway, Josh and his R6 battled for the Championship all season long in one of the most hotly contested title fights in recent years,

“Josh is a tremendous talent and during his four years with us his results have just continued to get better and better,” said Keith McCarty “It’s unfortunate that he just missed the Championship this year but that extra experience will only work in his favor and we’re delighted to have him back on the Team.”

“I am very excited to have signed another 2 years with Yamaha and Graves Motorsports” said Josh. “It’s my goal to win the Daytona Sportbike Championship and after coming so close two years in a row I am more determined than ever. I would like to thank Keith McCarty and everyone at Yamaha as well as Chuck Graves for believing in me and giving me another shot at the title. My Yamaha R6 is a proven winner and I know it will help me tremendously in my fight. I am looking forward to returning to Daytona next spring to defend my win there and begin the 2011 season.”

The FJR Supersport tourer is turned out with a level of fit and finish and sophistication that would look at home on an expensive touring car.

With plenty ponies on tap, a lightweight aluminium frame and incredible stopping power, the 2011 Yamaha FJR1300 puts the sport into sport touring. But we have not forgotten about rider comfort either. Excellent ergonomics, a stylish weather beating fairing and the peace of mind of ABS will have the miles disappearing in the mirrors… rapidly.

Ultimate supersport tourer.

Deep, smooth power that sends you down the road like a flat rock skimming a smooth lake, a perfectly tuned chassis that bends gracefully into corner and hangs onto the line you choose, powerful brakes with advanced ABS that brings you a confident stop in all kinds of weather. And with features like heated grips, adjustable windscreen and more.

For those riders who still prefer a serious dose of power, comfort and handling in their sport touring machine, the FJR1300 is the perfect choice.

Featuring an electrically adjustable windshield, air management to keep things cool and sporty handling, you’ll soon discover why the FJR1300 is one of the world’s premier sport touring machines.

Features

• Fuel Consumption * 17kpl/47mpg(Imp)

• ABS Brakes

• Advanced air management

ENGINE

• 1298cc, DOHC, 16-valve, liquid-cooled in-line four engine delivers serious power and torque (99.1 ft-lbs of torque @ 6000 rpm) for an unequalled spread of muscle over a wide RPM range. Red line is a surprisingly low 9,000 rpm for extended engine life.

• Engine is a fully stressed chassis member, allowing for a lightweight yet rigid frame design for excellent handling.

• One-piece cylinder and upper crankcase assembly provides tremendous engine rigidity that’s lighter and stiffer than two-piece designs.

• Specially designed four-valve per cylinder head features compact, side-driven double-overhead camshafts providing outstanding low to mid rpm torque and horsepower for effortless sport touring and great passing power.

• Specially designed high lift intake and exhaust cams provide excellent torque and power characteristics well suited to sport touring.

• Ceramic composite cylinder “bores” are a “liner less” design with the ceramic coating applied directly to the aluminium block to ensure uniform heat dissipation for consistent power delivery, reduced oil consumption, reduced friction and reduced weight.

• High performance, short skirt, forged aluminium pistons are light weight for fast throttle response and also reduce reciprocating mass for less mechanical vibration. Compression ratio is 10.8:1

• Specially designed, low-vibration crankshaft features two gear-driven secondary counterbalancers delivering a smooth ride, which enhances both rider and passenger comfort.

• The crank uses carburized connecting rods for excellent strength and durability. Carburizing is a heat treating process that increases the carbon content on the outer surface of the rod increasing its strength and durability.

• Automatic cam chain tensioner reduces both maintenance and engine mechanical noise.

• Advanced electronic fuel injection (EFI) system is ideal for long-distance sport-touring. The 42mm throttle body fuel injection system with 4-hole Nippon injectors delivers crisp, seamless throttle response regardless of weather or altitude. This is a closed loop fuel injection system, with an oxygen sensor that monitors the amount of oxygen in the spent exhaust gases and adjusts the fuel -air mixture via the ECU and FI system for maximum performance with minimum emissions. The benefits of fuel injection include choke-free starting, steady idling during warm up, excellent fuel economy, and reduced emissions. The oxygen sensor is located before the mufflers, so the use of slip-on mufflers will not affect this system.

• Compact engine design uses a stacked “Tri-Axis” transmission (transmission shafts are stacked to minimize powerplant size front to back). The stacked design reduces engine length and centralizes mass, thereby allowing the engineers the ability to place the engine in the “sweet spot” of the frame for optimized front and rear weight distribution which provides excellent handling characteristics.

• Wide ratio 5-speed transmission utilizes widely spaced gear ratios delivering relaxed long-distance sport touring performance combined with seamless acceleration.

• Special scissors-type primary driven gear helps prevent drive train backlash and significantly reduces transmission noise for greater rider comfort.

• Light-action hydraulic clutch provides smooth, effortless shifting, minimizing both rider fatigue and maintenance. Shift shaft features a needle-roller bearing to reduce friction for silky-smooth shifting.

• Clean, quiet shaft drive system is super-durable and low maintenance. This system features mechanical cam dampers in the drive pinion for quieter, smoother power delivery to the rear wheel.

• 4-into-1-into-2 stainless steel exhaust optimizes engine performance across the power band and utilizes four, three-way catalytic converters to reduce emissions. Two are located in the junction “box” under the engine and one in each muffler. Combined with the Air Induction System (AIS), the FJR1300 is one of the cleanest-running large-capacity motorcycle engines ever built. It easily exceeds the strict European EU-3 emission standards.

• Heated oxygen sensor provides precise fuel – air ratio information to the fuel injection system to reduce emissions even further, especially at lower engine temperatures.

• Curved radiator uses twin ring-type fans for great heat dissipation and to aid in moving the hot air out of the cowl area for optimized air management and less heat to the rider. Ring type fans “pull” more air than a conventional type fan.

• Easy-access cartridge-type spin-on oil filter makes oil changes a snap.

• High capacity oil filter and large volume of engine oil (5 litres) provides extended service intervals between oil changes.

• Excessive lean angle cut-out switch prevents the engine from running in the event of a tip over. The switch will activate at 70 degrees.

CHASSIS/SUSPENSION

• Cast aluminium twin spar, diamond-type frame, features massive twin spars. This frame design is incredibly light and extremely rigid, the perfect combination for sharp, sport bike-like handling.

• Fully detachable aluminium rear sub frame helps reduce weight while permitting easier rear shock access/maintenance.

• Lightweight, cast aluminium swingarm. The special swingarm design incorporates the shaft drive into its left side to reduce unsprung weight for incredible handling and suspension performance.

• Key chassis geometry figures include: caster angle = 26 degrees and trail of 109mm.

• Fully adjustable 48mm cartridge-style forks offer 135mm (5.4″) of wheel travel. The adjustable design allows the rider to tailor suspension settings to match rider weight, load and road conditions. Fork adjustments include: 6 – way spring preload, 21 – way compression damping and 17 – way rebound damping.

• Adjustable link Monocross rear suspension with 125mm (4.8″) of wheel travel features a handy, two-stage (hard/soft) spring preload adjustment lever that allows the rider to easily switch between solo and two-up preload settings. Other rear shock adjustments include: 18 – way rebound damping.

• Dual 320mm front discs are squeezed by Nissin 4-piston calipers with independent brake pads for each piston. Computer controlled ABS is standard on the FJR1300.

• 282mm rear disc brake with opposed piston caliper provide outstanding stopping power. The caliper is mounted on the swingarm to reduce torque action for superior suspension and handling performance. The rear brake ABS system is also computer controlled.

• The ABS or Anti Lock Braking System features a linear controlled 3 position system. The controlling ECU and the hydraulic unit are combined into a single compact unit that allows for mass centralization. When the ABS system senses impending wheel, lock-up via active type wheel sensors, the system regulates the hydraulic press to the point just before the wheel or wheels lock-up. The benefit of ABS is excellent control under hard braking or when braking on wet, slippery or loose surfaces. The ABS system helps prevents wheel lock up.

• Unified braking system with computer controlled ABS. When the front brake is applied it activates 6 of the 8 front caliper pistons (all four LHS front pistons are activated, while only the “upper” two pistons on the RHS front caliper are activated). When applying the rear brake, both rear pistons activate and 2 front pistons activate (both rear caliper pistons are activated plus the two lower pistons on the front RHS

• Lightweight cast-aluminium 3-spoke wheels are fitted with 120/70-ZR17 front and 180/55-ZR17 rear radial tires perfectly suited to both spirited solo riding or long-range trekking.

• Adjustable handlebars offer three positions of adjustability. From the centre position, the bars can be adjusted 5.5 mm forward or 5.5mm back towards the rider. Total adjustment range is 11mm.

• Adjustable, two-piece seat features an adjustment range of 20mm (0.8″) for the rider portion of the seat. There are two steps of adjustment via specially designed eccentric rubbers. Different foam densities for the front and rear sections, ensure plush comfort for both rider and passenger.

• Stylish yet aerodynamic full fairing provides excellent wind and weather protection. Air flow management has been optimized to reduce the amount of heat that flows to the rider. There are vents on the outside of each headlight to allow cool air into the cockpit and fuel tank areas. There is also a fresh air vent below the instrument assembly.

• Middle cowl features a 2 – position adjustable visor / vent. The adjustment range is 30mm via quick turn fasteners. The rider can adjust these vents (30 mm or 1.2″ range) to allow more or less air toward the rider’s hip and leg area.

• Small item storage compartment is located in the upper left side of the fairing. Inside this compartment is a 12 volt 30 watt DC power outlet for added convenience. The lid can be opened when the ignition is turned on. Its 1 litre capacity is perfect for small items such as cell phone, wallet, garage door opener etc.

• Super convenient push button operated electrically adjustable windscreen. The windshield features a fresh air duct at the bottom to reduce the vacuum tendency (negative pressure) in the cockpit area. The range of height adjustment range is 136 mm (5.4″). The windshield can be easily raised for greater wind protection or lowered for a sportier profile via a convenient handlebar-mounted switch.

• Quick-release luggage mounts mean fast removal of the 30 litre colour matched hard saddlebags. The FJR1300 has been designed to look great with or without the saddlebags installed. It takes mere seconds to install or remove the locking saddlebags or optional top case.

• Ergonomically shaped, large-capacity 25-litre fuel tank offers an excellent riding range, and is constructed of steel allowing for the use of magnetic tank bags. The reserve portion is 5 litres. The under side of the tank improves air management.

• Easy-to-read instrumentation includes an electronic analog speedometer and tachometer, LCD digital odometer, dual tripmeters, fuel and coolant temperature gauges, plus a clock as well as a range of warning lights. Other functions include outside air temperature, a gear position indicator and fuel consumption read out.

• R1-inspired cat-eye dual 60/55-watt multi-reflector halogen headlights can be easily adjusted for two up riding. Left and right sides can be independently adjusted via conveniently located screw type knobs.

• Sleek tail section helps reduce drag and features a sturdy rear passenger grab rail that can double as a small rack.

• Immobilizer ignition system is designed to reduce the possibility of “ride away” theft. This system must recognize the “coded ignition key” in order for the unit to start. If the immobilizer ignition does not recognize the key (or a thief’s screwdriver or other type of “jimmy tool”) the bike will not start even if the ignition is turned or forced into the on position. If the system does not recognize the coded chip in the ignition key, it will not allow the ignition system, fuel pump or starter motor to function.

The looks and style you crave along with performance and refinement you only get from a Star Motorcycle.

The all new 2011 Yamaha Stryker, a machine designed to be ridden… and admired. Chopper inspired styling, attention to detail and mechanical function blend together in a stunning new mid class “chopper”. One ride and you will know we got it right. The style, the performance and that special attitude is intoxicating.

Strykes fear into everything else.

The all new 2011 Stryker by Star Motorcycles is the coolest bike to roll off the assembly line since the Yamaha Raider took the industry by storm. With its raked out front end and “fists in the wind” riding position, this bike is pure attitude. And with fuel injection, a 1304cc V-Twin, and a beautiful final belt drive, the 2011 Yamaha Stryker churns out plenty of low-end torque that gets to the ground in a very satisfying way. It’s time for an attitude adjustment!

Powered by a liquid-cooled, 1304cc V-twin powerplant, the new Stryker offers an unparalleled riding experience.

The looks are guaranteed to turn heads while the engine performance and sound will keep you grinning all day. But there is more. It is hard to put into words but one ride and you will discover its unique “bad boy” attitude.

Features

• 1304cc fuel injected V-Twin

• Chopper inspired styling and attitude

ENGINE

• 1304cc (80 cubic inch), liquid-cooled, short stroke, SOHC, 4-valve per cylinder, fuel injected, 60° V-twin powerplant pumps out impressive power and torque for excellent cruising performance.

• Uneven firing interval, bore & stroke dimensions and special ignition & injection mapping all contribute to excellent torque output and that classic V-twin pulse feeling

• Liquid-cooling not only allows for higher state of tune because it maintains more stable operating temperatures, but also reduces mechanical noise for a quieter engine.

• In an effort to maintain the classic air-cooled appearance of the engine, cooling fins have been added as a styling highlight.

• The short stroke engine design reduces the “height” of the engine, while the 60 degree “V” makes the engine more compact thereby centralizing mass and lowering the center of gravity for lighter, more responsive handling.

• One-piece cylinder heads feature 4-valves per cylinder to provide optimum breathing efficiency for maximum power output.

• Stylish chromed cylinder head covers.

• The SOHC valve train features 36mm intake and 32mm exhaust valves with special single coil springs for great power and torque. Valves angles are set at 20 degrees from centre.

• Specially designed roller rockers activate the valves. The rocker system allows a greater amount of valve lift without causing excessive camshaft wear and friction. The slipper portion of the rocker arm features a needle bearing which reduces wear and slide resistance (friction). The camshafts have been specially designed for use with roller rockers.

• Pent roof combustion chamber design and optimized squish area forces the fuel / air mixture toward the centre of the combustion chamber for more complete combustion and hence improved power and cleaner emissions.

• The radiator is mounted between the front frame down tubes to minimize its appearance especially when viewing the machine from the side. Even the rad hoses have been discreetly placed for a cleaner appearance. An electric fan aids in cooling during very hot weather or in stop and go traffic.

• Automatic hydraulic cam chain tensioners reduce mechanical noise and simplify maintenance too.

• Ceramic composite-plated cylinders provide uniform heat dissipation while also reducing friction and weight. The cylinders have a tapered “V” appearance to highlight the V-twin design. Cylinder bore is 100mm.

• High performance forged pistons offer great durability and reduced weight for faster engine response and less mechanical vibration.

• Crankshaft features a single crank pin design. This specially designed crank and uneven firing order helps to enhance the pulse feeling and that unique V-twin engine character.

• Single axis, left and right dual engine counter balancers reduce vibration to a minimum while maximizing rider comfort.

• Crankcase design features internal oil and coolant lines for a clean, air-cooled engine appearance. There are special piston coolers that spray oil at the under side of the pistons.

• Easy access, spin on type oil filter is located under the engine. There is no need to remove any parts to access the oil filter.

• Classic side mounted air box houses a high-flow viscous paper-type filter and adds that special styling touch too.

• Mikuni dual bore, 40mm throttle body fuel injection system with TPS (Throttle Position Sensor) and ISC (Idle Speed Control). This is a “closed loop” system that utilizes an oxygen sensor in the exhaust. The sensor “sniffs” the spent exhaust gases and feeds back info to the ECU which in turn adjusts the fuel/air mixture for maximum power with minimum emissions. The oxygen sensor is located before the mufflers, so the use of slip-on mufflers will not affect this system. Each injector features 12 holes and a dual spray pattern for better fuel atomization and more complete combustion chamber filling. There is one injector per cylinder. Fuel injection benefits include improved fuel economy; choke less operation, reduced emissions, and smoother running.

• High pressure fuel pump is located in a separate sub tank below the seat.

• 2 into 1 into 2 exhaust system features dual slash cut mufflers which provide a specially developed exhaust note that accentuates the V-Twin rumble. The engineers call it the “sound of acceleration”.

• A 3-way honeycomb catalyzer is located at the entry point to the mufflers. The catalyzer reduces harmful exhaust emissions.

• Smooth-shifting, 5-speed transmission with 5th gear overdrive delivers outstanding cruising performance and reduced rpms at highway speeds for comfortable cruising.

• Clean, quiet belt drive system is extremely low maintenance and simplifies customization. The belt features carbon cords for extra strength.

• Air Induction System (A.I.S.) reduces harmful exhaust emissions (CO + HC).

CHASSIS/SUSPENSION

• Double cradle steel frame with “open neck space” provides an aggressive chopper image. This frame utilizes a rigid engine mounting system to optimize the overall rigidity balance of the chassis for superior handling. The rake is 34 degrees with a yoke offset * of 6 degrees. The frame not provides excellent handling and roomy ergonomics but also compliments the beautiful flowing lines of the entire machine.
Important Note: Raked out front fork with lots of trail generally provides good straight line stability but often results in heavy steering at low speeds. The engineers at Yamaha will not sacrifice handling for styling, so they have developed a 6 degree yoke offset angle combined with a 34 degree steering head for a total fork angle of 40 degrees. The “Stryker” provides light “athletic handling and easy steering” not normally associated with a custom styled bike. This bike was designed to be ridden ! Key numbers: 6 degree yoke offset angle, 34 degree caster angle, 109mm of trail.

• Steel swingarm compliments the frame and the overall chassis rigidity balance

• Long 1,750mm (68.9″) wheelbase creates a long, low profile and solid, stable handling. This chassis offers a 45% & 55% front to rear weight distribution and is approximately 60mm longer than the standard V-Star 1300.

• The long low design means spacious ergonomics with lots of leg room, which maximizes rider and passenger comfort.

• Raked out 41mm front fork offers excellent ride comfort and compliance. Chip protectors help to prevent stone chips in the tubes. Front wheel travel is 135mm (5.3″).

• Monocross style, spring preload-adjustable, single-shock, link rear suspension centralizes mass for agile handling. The linkage system provides a rising rate effect that provides excellent compliance on both small and large bumps. There are 9 positions of spring preload adjustability to suit rider preference.

• Rear shock is vertically mounted behind the engine and is tucked out of sight for that classic, clean, hard tail look. Rear wheel travel is 100mm (3.9″).

• Single, large 320mm, floating front disc is squeezed by a compact twin piston front caliper.

• 310mm rear disc brake is squeezed by single piston caliper mounted to the underside of the swingarm. This design not only helps to hide the caliper but also lowers the center of gravity for better handling.

• Newly designed, lightweight 5-spoke cast aluminium wheels are fitted tubeless tires. These stylish wheels are both easy to clean and maintenance-free. The front wheel is a MT3.50 x 21 inch while the rear is a wide MT7.50×18. The narrow front tire (120/70 x 21) and wide rear tire (240/40R18) enhance the chopper styling image.

• Newly designed 1 inch handlebars are mounted directly to the upper handlebar crown without the use of traditional handlebar holders. This design accentuations the chopper profile while also providing an aggressive riding position.

• Newly design deep-bend front and rear fenders enhance the chopper styling. Steel material allows for easy customization and painting if desired.

• 15 litre teardrop shaped fuel tank with chromed filler cap. The long, slim tank design accentuates the bikes muscular styling lines.

• Newly designed one piece rider and passenger seat offers a low 670mm (26.4″) seat height and great styling too. Seating position is best described as sitting “in” not “on” providing a very special “riding attitude”.

• Chromed handlebar-mounted instrument features an analog speedometer, digital odometer, dual tripmeters, fuel gauge, fuel reserve tripmeter (counts kilometres since the fuel went on reserve), clock, and a range of warning lights and self diagnostic functions.

• Instrument functions can be “tabbed” through and re-set using the RHS handlebar switch gear, allowing the operator to change instrument meter functions without taking hands off the bars.

• Newly designed, compact 60/55 watt high intensity halogen headlight emphasizes the “chopper” image.

• Eye catching LED tail light is not only very visible but also uses less electrical power than a conventional bulb style taillight.

ADDITIONAL FEATURES

• Industry-leading Star family fit and finish features rich, lustrous paint and extensive chrome accents creating a machine as stunning as it is powerful.

• Extra wide front brake and clutch levers provide a quality feel.

• Steering lock is integrated into the main ignition switch for extra convenience.
