    YAMAHA is recalling 54,000 2006-2010 YZF-R6 motorcycles because the front side refelctor was not placed at the proper height which does not meet the requirement of FMV safety standard # 108 which regulates “lamps, reflective devices and associated equipment.  The visibility of the motorcycle will be decreased which could increase the risk of a crash.  Yamaha is notifying owners and dealers will begin fixing the bikes free of charge on or about August 11, 2010.  Owners with questions may contact Yamaha at 800-962-7926 Ex Came Back Success Stories For more discussion Yamaha ...Read more.

    Jorge Lorenzo and Valentino Rossi were both present at the Laguna Seca circuit on Thursday for the unveiling of a special new livery on each of their Fiat Yamaha YZR-M1 bikes, which is being used to celebrate the impending release of the Fiat 500 car in the United States. Fans were asked to submit their photos with 500 spaces available on each of Rossi’s and Lorenzo’s bikes, and needless to say the response was rapid – the Italian’s M1 was filled within 15 minutes!     The Japan based motorcycle manufacturer Yamaha seems so have got itself inspired by the Honda VFR 1200F sports tourer and based on this inspiration seems to have plans to include the electronically controlled twin clutch in the flagship R1 superbike. The technique though that Yamaha plans to use will be different from the one that Honda has employed. Unlike Honda, where one input shaft passes through the other, Yamaha plans to use two input shafts that are half the length of a normal gearbox’s single shaft.     Pole position starter Cal Crutchlow and team mate James Toseland were among many of the riders who struggled to find adequate grip levels on the abrasive Kyalami circuit as they battled for valuable championship points in the two World Superbike races. Cal Crutchlow finished 8th and 4th in the two races, but at least managed to remain with the leaders in the second encounter right until the chequered flag. We’ve already seen the American Fiat-Yamaha R1 LE, with its race livery and fake Rossi signature, but the new race rep’s from Yamaha France will feature paint schemes from both the Fiat-Yamaha and Monster Tech3 Yamaha teams.
